Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Coronavirus situation is set to dominate our lives for some time. The threats to health and the speed with which the virus has spread around the world have been much discussed in the press and broadcast media, as has the inevitable impact on activities that we so easily take for granted. Self-isolation, the shutdown of schools, our hospitality industry, and the inevitable pressures on the National Health Service have swiftly become part of our everyday lives.

The most vulnerable to the threat of infection are those with underlying health conditions and people over 70. A small community such as Aberdyfi can play a significant part in helping alleviate the threats to older residents by following a few simple rules when ’keeping in touch’…

Stay 2 metres (6ft) apart when out shopping and exercising.

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before and after going out.

Helping with shopping, or just providing a listening ear can make us all feel more at ease in the knowledge that we have not been forgotten. There are many safe ways we can all stay in touch, from a simple phone call to online communication, so whether you choose to Facetime, Skype or pick up the phone, it is important to stay in touch with your family, friends and neighbours. There are many stories already that demonstrate the community spirit in Aberdovey has sprung rapidly into action. Many thanks to all of you who care about your community and have already made such a difference.
