With so many magnificent walking opportunities, it is easy to forget how easy it can be to get caught out by inclement weather or injury whilst exploring the beauty that surrounds Aberdovey.

Aberdovey Search & Rescue Team (SaRT) provide a service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in wild and remote locations throughout South Snowdonia and Mid Wales. Aberdovey SaRT is made up of a dedicated team of volunteers and entirely funded by charitable donations. Our team members come from a wide variety of backgrounds – Artists, Mountain Instructors, Engineers and Scientists to name a few. All give up a considerable amount of their time to train and provide a voluntary search and rescue service day or night, all year round.

The Team are advocates of enjoying the outdoors and encourage a responsible approach when heading for the mountains. Here are a few essentials that will help make your day a success.

Ensure you are properly equipped with suitable walking boots, warm waterproof clothing, rucksack, map & compass, whistle, torch, fully charged mobile phone and a first aid kit.

Take enough food and drink for the day + high energy foods; chocolate, energy bars, etc.

The weather can be unpredictable so be prepared to turn back if conditions are against you… Don’t let pride come before a fall – there’s always another day.

If you do have a serious problem whilst in the mountains, call 999 or 121 and ask for Police and Mountain Rescue.

Be Safe and Happy walking
