How to Get to Aberdovey

By Road

From the North

Make your way to Dolgellau. Join the A470. Turn on to the A487. Before crossing the river, turn right on to the A493 and follow the road for approximately 9 miles to Aberdovey.

From the East

Make your way to Welshpool. Follow the A458. At the Mallwyd roundabout turn left on to the A470 to Machynlleth. Join the A489 at Glantwymyn. Turn right at the clock tower in Machynlleth, follow the road out and take a left immediately after crossing the river to join the A493, follow for approximately 9 miles to Aberdovey.

From the South

Make your way to Machynlleth. Follow the A487 out of Machynlleth. Turn left immediately after crossing the river on to the A493 and follow the road for approximately 9 miles to Aberdovey.

By Rail

Aberdovey has 2 Railway Stations

The stations are situated at either end of Aberdovey. When travelling from Machynlleth the Penhelig Halt (request stop) is your first option followed shortly by Aberdovey’s main station. Trains run throughout the day. Check Arriva Trains Wales for further information.

Aberdovey train station is a short walk from the village centre. Walk out of the car park past Rhos Dyfi to the main road, turn right and follow the footpath into the village. Alight here for the Beach, Penrhos Caravan Site, Neuadd Dyfi and Aberdovey Golf Club. Turn left at the main road for Aberdovey Golf Club.

Penhelig Halt (request stop) is a short walk from Aberdovey centre. Walk down from the station, turn left and follow the main road (no footpath) into the village. Alight here for Penhelig Arms Hotel, Penhelig Terrace, Cliffside and Nantiesyn. Turn right when leaving Penhelig Halt for Nantiesyn.
