Aberdyfi Football Club plays in the First Division of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League, having gained promotion at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Not only did they finish the season second in the Division Two table, but also with a well deserved win in the league cup, beating first placed Penrhyncoch Thirds 2-0 to lift the silverware.

History of the club

AFC was reformed, after a long hiatus, in the mid Nineties and plays its home matches on what is considered one of the best football pitches in Mid-Wales.

The ground is located next to the famous Aberdovey links golf course and is a former landfill site, but was resurfaced and brought to life as a football pitch thanks to a Sports Lottery grant and local fundraising.

No stranger to trophies, Aberdyfi FC won the Welsh Amateur Cup Competition in 1934 but later disbanded in the Sixties before eventually regrouping some 30 years later.

AFC operates a membership scheme and joining enquiries should be directed to Bryn Lloyd on 01654 768 289.
