Welcome to Aberdyfi Community Council
Community and Town Councils form the most local level of government in Wales, covering approximately 94% of the land area and 70% of the population of Wales. These Councils have a powerful voice – a tool to best represent the needs and aspirations of local people.
Community and Town Councils are an elected tier of local government. They have the legal power to take action and can play a vital part in representing the interests of their communities and influencing other important decision makers.
Engaging with your council is the best way to find out what makes it tick. By law, members of the public are allowed to be present during most Council business meetings. Find out the next Council meeting in the Council Business section or for further information contact your Community Council.
All Councillors are expected to uphold the highest standards of behaviour. The public needs to feel confident that they are living up to the high standards expected from them.
Councillors are bound by a statutory Code of Conduct which outlines what is expected of them in terms of behaviour and conduct and applies to Councillors whenever they are acting or appear to be acting as a Councillor – in short pretty much all of the time.
Councillors are expected to formally agree to the Code when signing their acceptance of office following election. A copy of the Code of Conduct is available in the Aberdyfi Council Office.
